Cognitive radio devices have the ability to dynamically select their operating configurations, based on environment aspects, goals, profiles, preferences etc. The proposed method aims at evaluating the various candidate configurations that a cognitive transmitter may operate in, by associating a capability e.g., achievable bit-rate, with each of these configurations. It takes into account calculations of channel capacity provided by channel-state estimation information (CSI) and the sensed environment, and at the same time increases the certainty about the configuration evaluations by considering past experience and knowledge through the use of Bayesian networks. Results from comprehensive scenarios show the impact of our method on the behaviour of cognitive radio systems, whereas potential application and future work are identified.

Cognitive Radio (CR) networks enable dynamic spectrum access and can significantly improve spectral efficiency. Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) exploits the spatial diversity between CR users to increase sensing accuracy. However, in a realistic scenario, the trustworthy of CSS is vulnerable to Spectrum Sensing Data Falsification (SSDF) attack. In an SSDF attack, some malicious CR users deli...

The prevalent communications networks suffer from lack of spectrum and spectrum inefficiency. This has motivated researchers to develop cognitive radio (CR) as a smart and dynamic radio access promised solution. A major challenge to this new technology is how to make fair assignment of available spectrum to unlicensed users, particularly for smart grids communication. This paper introduces an i...

It is becoming increasingly evident that cognitive radio (CR) users in CR networks acting in uncertain dynamical environments often employ exact or approximate Bayesian statistical calculations in order to continuously estimate the channel states. In this work we propose a prediction/filtering channel state estimation model capable of exactly implementing Bayesian state estimation and predictio...
متن کاملInterference-Aware and Cluster Based Multicast Routing in Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks
Multicast routing is one of the most important services in Multi Radio Multi Channel (MRMC) Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN). Multicast routing performance in WMNs could be improved by choosing the best routes and the routes that have minimum interference to reach multicast receivers. In this paper we want to address the multicast routing problem for a given channel assignment in WMNs. The channels...
